MB Principles for Traditional Ensembles

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

During this session participants will learn a simple system for communicating melodic material that avoids the complications of traditional notation that stymie many young students. We will then practice techniques for group and individual improvisation so that students’ first notes are connected to creative expression and interaction. Just like soloing on the guitar, students can fully participate in a jam on music that they like using any instrument even with limited prior knowledge. Finally we will share ideas for creating student-ready materials and recordings so that our session materials can be used for any music you choose. While this session focuses on teachers of beginning instrumentalists who want to give the modern band experience to all students, it also applies to those who wish to add horns to their modern band.
